Vice President of Ghana expresses interest in extending commercial ties with Brazil

The President of the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF), João Bosco Monte, met in Accra with the Vice President of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Brazilian ambassador in the country, Maria Elisa Teófilo de Luna. On the occasion, Bawumia stressed the importance of dialogue and business that the Brazil Africa Forum 2019 can provide for Ghana.

At the meeting, Mahamudu Bawumia also highlighted the presence of Brazil’s Vice President Hamilton Mourão at the Forum and demonstrated that there is mutual interest in conducting bilateral business in both the public and private spheres.

“The dialogue with the Vice President of Ghana was very fruitful. He is excited about the arrival of our Forum and the opportunities that the event can provide. He has been willing to discuss possibilities for partnerships,” said the president of IBRAF.

In addition to Mahamudu Bawumia, IBRAF’s president also met with Ghana’s Minister of Food and Agriculture, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who confirmed his presence at the Brazil Africa Forum 2019.

The Brazil Africa Forum 2019 will take place from November 12 to 13 in São Paulo and has as its central theme is “Food Security: Path to Economic Growth”. About 300 representatives from governments, the private sector, academia and potential investors will exchange experiences, discuss valuable opportunities and promote knowledge.

In addition to the two vice-presidents, the President of the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), Benedict Oramah; the Director of Agriculture Global Practice of the World Bank Group, Simeon Ehui; former FAO Director-General, José Graziano; the secretary general of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Tamer Mansour; and the Director of the UN South-South Cooperation Office, Jorge Chediek are also confirmed.
