President of the Fortaleza Municipal Chamber receives CALACS’ researchers

Salmito Filho, André Brayner (director of Brazil Africa Institute) and the Indian Researchers

The Indian students Aakanksha Lohia and Sanjana Medipally, from Centre for African, Latin American And Caribbean Studies (CALACS) of the O.P. Jindal Global University (India) were received on Monday afternoon by Salmito Filho, the president of the City Council of Fortaleza. The purpose of the visit was to present a bit of Brazil, more specifically how the municipality in the country can stimulate economic activity, domestic and foreign investment, either through public-private partnerships or through the Consortium Urban Operation. The information collected will be used to develop the course “Doing Business in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC)”, to be held in India in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“The Chamber is always open to the academic world, research, education, scientific initiation. We contribute within our limitation, our prerogative putting some information, as well as talking about what the City has done, especially from 2013, from the Economic Development Secretariat, attracting investors, companies and new business in areas where the HDI is lower”, the president Salmito Filho said. “This information can not be found in books,” said one of the researchers.
