Brazil Africa Institute and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) have started a dialogue on how strength cooperation in working towards achieving Zero Hunger and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IBRAF’s President, Prof. João Bosco Monte, and FAO’s Deputy Director-General for Climate and Natural Resources, Dr. Maria Helena Semedo, met at the sidelines of the Celebration of the UN South-South Cooperation Day in Rome, Italy, where Prof. Monte attended as keynote speaker.
The recently State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World launched by the UN shows that world hunger is on the rise for the third year in a row. FAO’s work on providing youth with opportunities and training so they can succeed in agriculture finds a common agenda with Brazil Africa Institute actions.
Prof. Monte also took the opportunity to present the updated programme of the 6th Brazil Africa Forum, that will be focused on youth empowerment.
