Brazil Africa Institute delivers Youth Technical Training Program cohort in cattle production in Tauá, Brazil

The Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) held, from March 9 to 20, in the municipality of Tauá (Ceará, Brazil), an edition of the Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP), bringing together young professionals from South Sudan for technical training in cattle production.
The initiative is part of IBRAF’s broader strategy to strengthen the technical skills of African youth in sectors where Brazil has internationally recognized expertise, fostering knowledge exchange and enhancing productive capacities. This special edition of the program was supported by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, whose contribution made the training possible.
The program featured intensive training across the beef cattle value chain and animal feed production, with activities carried out in the Inhamuns region. The area is widely recognized for its experience in production systems adapted to semi-arid conditions, enabling practical application of solutions related to water scarcity, sustainable natural resource management, and climate variability — challenges also faced in many regions of South Sudan.
The activities were conducted within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in December 2025 between the Brazil Africa Institute and the Municipality of Tauá. The agreement establishes a foundation for institutional cooperation focused on sustainable local development, public sector innovation, and the promotion of international initiatives in the interior of Ceará. This partnership contributes to strengthening the municipality’s strategic role in international cooperation and to expanding such initiatives beyond major urban centers.
In South Sudan, livestock plays a central role in the economy and food security, serving as a key source of income, nutrition, and social organization for rural communities. By investing in the training of young professionals, the program contributes to strengthening productive capacity and socio-economic resilience in the country.
Created in 2017, the Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP) is one of the Brazil Africa Institute’s flagship initiatives within the framework of South-South and triangular cooperation. It has already benefited hundreds of young Africans through technical knowledge transfer, exchange of experiences, and the promotion of sustainable development.
The successful implementation of this first edition in Tauá reinforces the role of Brazil’s semi-arid region as a territory of innovation, cooperation, and development, connecting the interior of Ceará to global initiatives.
