Capacity-building

Mobilizing organizations, individuals and resources to achieve structural change in the African continent, through the creation or improvement of either physical capacity, such as infrastructure, energy and sanitation, or professional capacity, via educational and technical training. IBRAF organizes academic, capacity-building and technology transfer programs to engage young students and professionals in multiple areas, creating irradiating points of know-how and development

Events

Carrying out events which bring together leaders, experts and authorities from all origins, sectors and realms to dialogue and share experiences, boosting the exchange of know-how and the construction of synergies. These range across a wide spectrum, from high-level fora to summits, meetings, conferences, webinars and more

Research and Publications

Aiming to provide Brazilian, African and other decision-makers with quality, evidence-based and policy-oriented studies for policies and negotiations that can be mutually beneficial and catalyze development projects as well as cooperation, trade and investments. With a qualified team, IBRAF has the capacity to engage in spontaneous and on-demand research activities, creating original and useful knowledge

PROJECTS

Brazil Africa Forum

Established as the main event focused on the relations between Brazil and the African continent, the Brazil Africa Forum is Brazil Africa Institute's flagship event, held annually. It brings together global leaders, representatives from the public and private sector, academics, entrepreneurs and investors to dialogue and build synergies. The event provides high-level discussions, networking and social interaction opportunities and media visibility to its participants.

Mandela Exhibition

Nelson Mandela’s remarkable journey, one of the defining stories of the 20th century, is celebrated in exhibitions presented by the Brazil Africa Institute in collaboration with renowned South African institutions, including the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Through compelling images and videos, visitors are invited to explore the enduring legacy of reconciliation, justice, and leadership of a man who changed not only South Africa, but the world.

Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP)

This capacity-building initiative leverages Brazil’s globally recognized expertise in strategic sectors to train young Africans in specific professional and technical skills. By promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology, the program combines theoretical and practical learning to equip participants with the competencies, methods, and tools needed to apply what they learn in their home countries. Through this approach, IBRAF aims to create multiplying hubs of know-how, enabling participants to replicate and expand the impact of their training across Africa.

Atlantico Magazine

ATLANTICO tells relevant stories about inspiring people and about projects that use innovation to solve problems common to Brazil in the countries of the African continent within the context of South-South Cooperation and Triangular Technical Cooperation. In addition, ATLANTICO records current trends and helps managers improve their strategies, make better decisions and make more efficient connections.

Seminar Renewable Energy in Brazil and Africa

On March 30, 2021, the Brazil Africa Institute held the Seminar Renewable Energy in Brazil and Africa: the Clean Engines of Economic Development. The event gathered a distinguished group of speakers to discuss the main trends in the energy sector, actions to achieve decarbonization, climate change and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The event held a six hours live-streamed program and counted on the participation of an audience spread all over the world.

Communities of Practice

Communities of Practice are a learning style in which organized groups of people with a common interest, problem or technique share knowledge and learn from each other. Being a facilitator of good practices, Brazil Africa Institute is always seeking to promote international cooperation and engagement between Brazil, African continent and third regions. IBRAF’s CoPs work by matching demand and supply, selecting solution owners and identifying their possible replicators in an International Cooperation perspective.
