First YTTP class of 2025 begins technical training in Bahia

The activities of the new class of the Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP), an initiative by the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) aimed at training young Africans, began this Monday, April 7. Over the course of two weeks, until April 18, fifty young Angolans will take part in intensive training in Ilhéus, Bahia, focusing on the cocoa production chain.
This edition is supported by the Brazilian Federal Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reinforces the cooperation between Brazil and Angola in strengthening technical capacities in the agricultural sector.
“YTTP adopts professional training strategies tailored to the needs of African countries. By leveraging Brazil’s expertise in strategic sectors, we ensure that participants gain not only technical knowledge but also practical skills that generate real impact in their communities,” says João Bosco Monte, President of IBRAF.
In the coming days, participants will engage in an integrated training approach that combines technical knowledge with field experience. The goal is to prepare them to contribute to the modernization of the cocoa value chain in Angola. The program includes modules on nursery production, cocoa tree pruning, cultivation technology and innovation, pest and disease management, cloning processes, and more. Activities are taking place at the facilities of Biofábrica da Bahia and the Executive Commission of the Cocoa Farming Plan (CEPLAC).
