Agribusiness: logistical challenges and solutions for production in Brazil and Africa

Despite Africa holding nearly 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, the continent continues to rely on food imports, spending billions annually. The synergies between Brazil and Africa in agribusiness are immense, with both regions sharing common traits such as fertile soils, favorable climates, and growing populations. Brazil, a global leader in agribusiness, excels in productivity and has much to offer Africa in terms of collaboration.

The 12th Brazil Africa Forum, set to take place on November 14 and 15 at the WTC Events Center in São Paulo, will gather government leaders, business executives, and civil society representatives to discuss cooperation in strategic areas.

Among the key participants in the panel scheduled for 10 a.m. on November 14, following the opening address by Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, are Roberto Rodrigues, former Brazilian Minister of Agriculture and Coordinator of the Agribusiness Center at FGV-EESP; Philippe Rubini, Chief Investment Officer of Fictor Group; Gustavo Bastide Horbach, CEO of EuroChem; and Cristina Costa, Technical Coordinator at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture in Brazil.

In addition to this panel, the event, which focuses on the theme “Investment in Infrastructure to Boost Sustainable Development in Brazil and Africa,” will host discussions in crucial sectors such as energy, technology, education, and research. The forum will provide a platform for exchanging ideas, fostering business opportunities, and building partnerships.

Recognized as one of the foremost events for strengthening ties between Brazil and Africa, the Brazil Africa Forum also attracts participants from other regions around the world.

“This year, the Brazil Africa Forum is even more significant on the global stage,” says João Bosco Monte, founder and president of the Brazil Africa Institute. “The cooperation between Brazil and Africa transcends regional boundaries, opening doors to new opportunities for global development.”

Around 500 delegates are expected to attend, including heads of state and representatives from international development agencies, underscoring the event’s significance. With activities such as lectures, panels, business roundtables, and workshops, the forum encourages the exchange of ideas while facilitating partnerships and promising business ventures.
