The Brazil Africa Institute launches a new edition of the YTTP for young professionals from South Sudan

The Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) is launching a new edition of its Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP), aimed at strengthening technical capacities in cattle farming among young professionals from South Sudan. The initiative brings together partners from Brazil, South Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the application of Brazilian technical expertise to support youth capacity-building in Africa through international cooperation.
This edition of the YTTP will bring 100 young participants from South Sudan to Brazil for an intensive technical training program focused on the beef cattle and animal feed production sectors. The activities will take place in mid-March in the municipality of Tauá, in the state of Ceará, northeastern Brazil — a region widely recognized for its experience in livestock production under semi-arid conditions.
Ceará’s climatic profile shares strong similarities with environmental conditions across large areas of South Sudan, making it an ideal setting for practical and context-specific knowledge transfer. By engaging directly with production systems adapted to water scarcity, climate variability, and sustainable land management, participants will acquire skills that can be directly applied in their communities upon returning home.
Livestock plays a strategic role in South Sudan’s economy and food security, serving as a key source of income, nutrition, and social cohesion for rural populations. The sector, however, continues to face significant challenges, including limited access to technical expertise, low productivity, and high exposure to weather-related risks. Strengthening human capital in this area is therefore essential to promoting resilience and sustainable development.
Supported by the United Arab Emirates, this edition of the YTTP underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing shared global challenges such as food security, climate adaptation, and youth employment. By investing in technical education and knowledge exchange, the program contributes to empowering a new generation of African professionals capable of driving long-term socio-economic transformation.
Professor João Bosco Monte, Founder and President of the Brazil Africa Institute, stated:
“The Youth Technical Training Program embodies IBRAF’s commitment to technical education as a pathway to inclusive development. By combining hands-on learning with strategic partnerships, we are equipping young African professionals with the skills and confidence needed to drive change in their communities. This edition further reinforces IBRAF’s role as a bridge between Africa, Brazil, and the Middle East.”
Launched by the Brazil Africa Institute in 2017, the Youth Technical Training Program is a long-standing initiative that has been implemented through multiple editions over the years. The cooperation with the Government of the United Arab Emirates aligns with IBRAF’s strategic objective of expanding the program’s scale and reaching the milestone of training 1,000 young Africans by the end of 2026.
