Researchers from CALACS investigate international business in Ceará

During the second week of research on the economic and political structure of Brazil the Indian students Aakanksha Lohia and Sanjana Medipally, from Center for African, Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) of the O.P. Jindal Global University accompanied by André Brayner, director of the Brazil Africa Institute, they met last Wednesday, 5, with Antonio Balhmann, Special Adviser for International Affairs of the Government of the State of Ceará. The meeting took place last Wednesday, 5, in Fortaleza.

Following the agenda this Friday, 7, the students visited the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of Pecém, accompanied by the Commercial Director, Roberto Benevides de Castro. ZPE is an incentive industrial district in which industries located there operate with exchange and administrative tax benefits. During the two meetings, the girls learned about the projects to attract investment in the state and the panorama of the economy of Ceará.

Doing Business in LAC

Sanjana Medipally and Aakanksha Lohia are in Brazil to develop the modules of the Doing Business in LAC program, a course aimed at interested Indian executives who need to invest or expand business in Latin America and the Caribbean. The program is an initiative of the Brazil Africa Institute in partnership with the Global University O. P. Jindal (JGU) and is supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). During the month of July, the two researchers will meet with representatives of public authorities, class entities, banks and other organizations based in the cities of Fortaleza and São Paulo.
