João Bosco Monte takes part in the Ibero-African Business Forum (IBAFCAN) 2024

The president of the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF), Professor João Bosco Monte, participated in the Ibero-African Business Forum (IBAFCAN) 2024, held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 20 and 21. At the event, he joined the panel discussion ‘Dialogue on Internationalisation between Africa and Latin America, moderated by Gustavo González de Vega, Deputy Councillor for Economy and Internationalisation of the Government of the Canary Islands.

During the discussion, João Bosco Monte highlighted the crucial role of initiatives like IBAFCAN in strengthening economic ties between Africa, Latin America, and Europe. He underscored how international cooperation and public-private alliances can drive transformation in strategic sectors such as infrastructure, technology, and training.

The president of the Brazil Africa Institute stated, “Connections between Africa and Latin America are essential to harness the economic and social potential of both regions, as well as to develop sustainable projects.” He also emphasised the strategic importance of the Canary Islands, leveraging their privileged geographical location and expertise as a logistics hub to facilitate this exchange.

The forum, which brought together business leaders, government representatives, and experts from various fields, has established itself as a vital platform for fostering international collaboration. In addition to plenary sessions, more than 50 bilateral meetings were held, promoting networking and investment opportunities for the participants.

Professor João Bosco Monte’s participation in IBAFCAN reinforces the Brazil Africa Institute’s commitment to advancing South-South and tricontinental cooperation. With a consolidated track record, the institute continues to lead projects that empower communities and build bridges between regions with complementary development potential.
