Brazil Africa Institute joins seminar honoring Nelson Mandela at OAB-PE

The President of the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF), Professor João Bosco Monte, joined leading figures and institutions this Friday (18) at the International Nelson Mandela Day Seminar, held at the Pernambuco chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-PE) in Recife.
In his remarks, Professor Monte underscored the enduring relevance of Mandela’s message. “Nelson Mandela was a man of flesh and blood, just like you and me, but he had the greatness to, after 27 years of imprisonment, emerge with a vision of unity and reconciliation for a deeply divided nation. His legacy reminds us that building bridges is always the most powerful path forward,” he said.
The seminar brought together representatives from public institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations. The event opened with remarks from OAB-PE’s Vice President, Schamkypou Bezerra, and featured a distinguished panel including the Chief Prosecutor of the Pernambuco Labor Prosecutor’s Office (MPT-PE), Ana Carolina Lima Vieira, the Superintendent of the Federal Highway Police in Pernambuco (PRF-PE), Alexandre Rodrigues, and State Prosecutor Higor Araújo.
As part of the program, the Anti-Racism Forum of Pernambuco was officially launched, bringing together over 30 organizations from across the state. The event also featured the “Mandela Quotes” exhibition and a fair highlighting Black women entrepreneurs, celebrating the spirit of empowerment and inclusion.
