President of the Brazil Africa Institute awarded by the Brazilian Government

President of the Brazil Africa Institute, João Bosco Monte, was admitted as Comendador da Ordem de Rio Branco, a very prestigious award of the Brazilian Government created in honor of the Baron of Rio Branco, the Father of the Diplomacy in Brazil.

Professor Monte received the award in a ceremony with the presence of Brazil’s President Michel Temer at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasilia.

Ordem de Rio Branco was created in 1963 with the purpose of rewarding individuals, legal entities, civil organizations, military corporations, national or foreign, that are considered deserving of distinction for the services rendered or merits achieved.

João Bosco Monte is a PhD in International Relations from the University of Brasília and a PhD in Education from the Federal University of Ceará. He is a professor at the University of Fortaleza, member of the Center for African, Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) and serves as consultant for several international institutions.

Professor Monte founded the Brazil Africa Institute in 2012.
