Prof. João Bosco Monte, President of the Brazil Africa Institute and Adviser to the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), participated as a speaker at the Hili UAE-Africa Dialogue: Advancing Shared Futures, held on June 25–26, 2026, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Co-organized by the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), the dialogue brought together policymakers, business leaders, academics, and international experts to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and African countries.

Professor Monte spoke during the session “Catalyzing Sustainable Investment in Agriculture and Renewable Energy,” where he emphasized the importance of expanding strategic partnerships to mobilize investment in integrated agricultural value chains, renewable energy, innovation, and human capital. He underscored that sustainable investment is essential to advancing food security, accelerating the energy transition, and fostering inclusive economic growth across Africa.

He also highlighted that capacity building must remain at the center of Africa’s development agenda. He stressed that investments in education, professional training, institutional strengthening, and knowledge exchange are fundamental to enabling African countries to maximize the impact of investments, drive innovation, and build resilient, competitive economies.

His participation reinforces the Brazil Africa Institute’s commitment to promoting high-level dialogue and advancing South-South cooperation among Africa, the Gulf region, Brazil, and other global partners.
