GETTING BRAZIL AND AFRICA CLOSER

João Bosco Monte

Founder and current President of Brazil Africa Institute, he holds a Ph.D. in Education from the Federal University of Ceará and Postdoctoral studies from the University of Brasilia (UNB), with the object of research on the integration of the African continent.

He is a visiting Professor of important Brazilian and African Universities and he is a Senior International Associate of African, Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center - CALACs of Jindal Global University (India). Prof. João Bosco Monte is also the author of books and publications related to the relations between the various international actors, focusing on South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

He acts as an international consultant for Brazilian and foreign organizations and as a columnist and commentator for relevant media outlets in Brazil.

In 2020 Professor Monte was invited to join the UN Food Systems Champions Network, speaking globally on the needs to ensure food security as a way to achieve sustainable development.

In 2018 he was admitted as Comendador da Ordem de Rio Branco, a prestigious award of the Brazilian Government, in recognition for his merits achieved on the promotion of the relations between Brazil and Africa.

He was a Brazilian delegate to the 2013 edition of the Academic Forum of the BRICS.
