World Food Day 2020: a call to action

The World Food Programme has just been laureated with the Nobel Peace Prize 2020. This is a clear sign that food systems all over the world need urgent attention.
According to the United Nations, there are 690 million people hungry today even with one third of all food produced being wasted or lost. A disbalanced food system has many negative impacts not only on human health, but also on climate and environment.
On this World Food Day, I reinforce my commitment as a Food Systems Summit Champion to help drive actions towards transforming food systems for the good of people and the planet.
In upcoming November, at the Brazil Africa Forum, we are going to engage global leaders to think and act, discussing strategies to increase large-scale cooperation to achieve positive results for the future. Only together we can achieve transformation.
